Less busywork.
Better software.

Easton & Code builds custom software and automations for teams who are tired of doing things the hard way — with AI where it earns its place, and a real engineer accountable for every line.

  1. TriggerA vendor invoice lands in the inbox
  2. AgentReads it — vendor, amount, due date, category
  3. Human checkYou approve anything unusual, in one click

An example automation. The software does the reading and filing — people keep the judgment calls.

Three ways to work together

Start small or go long. Most clients begin with one problem and stay for the next one.

01 / Projects

One-off builds

A defined problem with a clear finish line. A new app, a stubborn integration, or a rescue of something half-built.

  • Custom Rails + Hotwire apps
  • APIs and third-party integrations
  • Legacy upgrades and migrations
02 / Automation

Workflow automation

Find the repetitive work hiding in your week and hand it to software — with checkpoints wherever judgment matters.

  • Agentic workflows with human review
  • Inbox, document, and data processing
  • Reporting and alerts that run themselves
03 / Partnership

Long-term & staff augmentation

A senior engineer embedded in your team — your standups, your repo, your process — for as long as you need one.

  • Ongoing product development
  • Code review and architecture
  • Bringing AI tooling into your team’s workflow

An honest take on AI

Sometimes the answer is an agent. Sometimes it’s a spreadsheet formula.

I’ll tell you which. AI is a tool, not the pitch — the goal is the problem solved, the hours back, and a system your team actually trusts.

Good fit

  • Reading messy inputs — emails, PDFs, forms
  • First drafts a person reviews
  • Summarizing feedback, tickets, and notes
  • Routing work to the right place

Not a fit

  • Decisions someone must answer for
  • Work where “mostly right” is wrong
  • Problems plain code already solves
  • Replacing the people who know your customers

How I work

Problem first. Code second.

  1. 01

    Listen

We talk about the actual problem — how the work happens today, who touches it, and what “better” would look like.

  2. 02

    Map

I map the workflow, find what’s repetitive, and propose the simplest thing that works. You get a clear scope before any build.

  3. 03

    Build

Small, tested releases you can see working early — so we adjust course on real software, not slide decks.

  4. 04

    Hand off

Documentation, training, and code you own. Stick around for support, or take it from there.

Hospitality platform

NexGen Guest

As development and operations lead for a hotel guest-experience platform, I'm moving the app from Rails 6 and MongoDB to Rails 8 and PostgreSQL, and building features like digital tipping and AI analysis of guest feedback — while hotels keep using it every day.

I work on Sagiliti's Rails-based utility bill management platform alongside a distributed team spread across time zones — shipping features and reviewing pull requests so work keeps moving around the clock.

About

AI with a human touch.

I’m Caleb Griffin — a self-taught engineer with about eight years of building Rails apps, from telehealth platforms to hotel systems. Easton & Code is my studio, which means you work with me directly: no account managers, no handoffs to a junior team.

I build with agentic tools every day, so I know where they shine and where they need a person watching. That’s the balance I bring to every project.

Got a process that eats your week?

Tell me about it. If software can help, I’ll show you how. If it can’t, I’ll say so.
